evaluation of resistance to powdery mildew and some agronomic trails of barley doubled haploid lines
Authors
abstract
ninety barley doubled haploid lines originated from crossing between six barley cultivars in cereal research department, seed and plant improvement institute, karaj, iran were evaluated for resistance to powdery mildew and some agronomic traits in field in 2007. six parent cultivars and a powdery mildew susceptible check cultivar, afzal were also included. sixty two doubled haploid lines showed high levels of resistance and twenty eight lines were susceptible or moderately susceptible, indicating that the crossing program was successful in transferring resistance from parental cultivars to doubled haploid lines. lines of group b1 (cv. legia × rihan) were all resistant while lines of group b6 (cv. rihan × legia) were all susceptible to powdery midew. lines of group b2 (cv. igra × riham) with average 211.80 days to maturity were the most early maturity lines, and line of group b3 (cv. igra × kavir) with average 56.10g of 1000kw were the most high yielding lines .

genetic analysis of powdery mildew resistance in some barely lines
powdery mildew, caused by blumeria graminis hordei, is currently the most serious foliar disease of barley in worldwide and reduced barley yield. the use of resistant cultivars is an efficient, economical and environmentally way to control of powdery mildew in barley. in this research a half diallel design was used for genetic analysis of resistance to powdery mildew (bgh) in barley. six barley...
full textEfficiency of resistance genes in wheat to powdery mildew in some centers of disease incidence in Iran
Wheat powdery mildew caused by fungal pathogen Blumeria graminis f.sp. tritici is a destructive wheat disease, occurring in regions with cool and humid climates. In order to investigate the changes in pathogenicity of the disease and to identify the effective genetic source of resistance, a total of 29 wheat genotypes with different resistance major genes (Pm) were studied in two hotspots of Go...
full textInvestigation of Qualitative Traits and Genes Expression Involved in Bakery Quality for Some of the Bread’s Wheat Doubled Haploid Lines
Bread’s quality depends on wheat flours quality and quantity and for the goal to be achieved, the usage of suitable wheat varieties should be considered. Present study focuses on analyzing doubled-haploid lines of wheat’s bread backing quality and the relationship between qualitative traits and glutenins reservoir proteins. In current work, traits related to bread backing quality of 30 doubled-...
full textEvaluation of Genetic Variation and Parameters of Fatty Acid Profile in Doubled Haploid Lines of Camelina sativa L.
After cereals, oilseeds are the second-largest food reserves in the world. According to available statistics, more than 95 percent of Iran's oil needs are imported. Given the growing need for edible oils in Iran, it is important to identify fatty acids in the oilseed crops. Camelina sativa L. is an oil-medicinal plant and belongs to the Brassicaceae family that requires very little water and fe...
full textInduction of Disease Symptoms in Barley by Powdery Mildew.
Powdery millews usually grow superficially on their hosts but produce symptoms of disease throughout the underlying host tissues. The symptoms include marked increase in respiratory rate (1, 3, 15. 24, 26, 30. 35); accumulation of organic and inorganic substances (1,29, 36): increase in dry weight (10. 26) ; increase in wet weight (3) decrease in photosynthesis when the disease is well develope...
full textTempered mlo broad-spectrum resistance to barley powdery mildew in an Ethiopian landrace
Recessive mutations in the Mlo gene confer broad spectrum resistance in barley (Hordeum vulgare) to powdery mildew (Blumeria graminis f. sp. hordei), a widespread and damaging disease. However, all alleles discovered to date also display deleterious pleiotropic effects, including the naturally occurring mlo-11 mutant which is widely deployed in Europe. Recessive resistance was discovered in Eth...
